Camera

Forgot to mention...
for christmas I got an awesome new digital camera! Since my old one broke I needed a new one and I got one in my favourite color...and it takes really interesting pictures!
I haven't learned it fully yet but I could post my learning progress here. Just wanted to let you all know that more pictures will be coming here again.
I'm excited, hope you are a little bit too. =)

Monday morning

Good morning.
Soon going to eat breakfast and get ready for one more week of dancing. It's always kind of exciting!
I just thought of my new year. My new years resolution was to put dance before everything...but since I'm already trying to do that I need a new one...maybe to write here more often.
Every new years eve I do the same thing though...that Freudian slip; I call new years resolution for New Years revolution...
Hmmm...

Grocerys

This weekend I went grocery shopping. I just love the feeling of having a full fridge, full freezer and a soon exploding cabinet in the kitchen =) To be able to cook tasty healthy food whenever I feel like it is such a luxuary.
I live in Manhattan and to shop at the supermarket just across the street is too expensive. So I do my shopping at Wholefoods. When I tell people that they usually get shocked and whine about how expensive wholefoods is. That's not true. If you go in to whole foods and see all the imported special fine foods, yes of course it's more expensive with the cypriotic halloumi cheese than it would be to buy a block of cheddar cheese at your supermarket. But I know for a fact that simple things like pasta is cheaper than on the "regular" supermarkets in the city. Also I'm a big fan of organic food; it usually tastes better, no bitter after tastes and the fruit is not as sticky and doesn't itch on me like some non-organic do.
For example, the organic version of canned tomatoes are cheaper at wholefoods than the regular ones at my next door supermarket. But then wholefoods also have a regular version that's even cheaper. Just an example. The reason I'm writing about this is not product placement ;)
You see, I'm allergic to a lot of things. So I'm forced to read at ingridents labels. I've learned a lot from that. It made me aware of so many things, to figure out what all those strange words and different number combinations actually means. As an example; colorings that are forbidden to be used in paint in Sweden, because they're proven to cause cancer if inhaled, are allowed to be used in candy for kids. (!) It used to be prohibited in food in Sweden but when we joined the European Union we allowed it again.
When I tried to shop at Trader Joe's (supposingly cheap food chain) I noticed that I couldn't eat half the food. Not much worse than any other supermarket though. The difference from Whole foods however is enormous. In most of whole foods products, there's not much more in the food than what needs to be. I've found more different things I can eat at wholefoods than at all the other supermarkets in NYC put together! Sure, sometimes when I'm in there I get tempted to try some of the more expensive food but if I want to go cheap I can, with products that usually doesn't have any unnecessary colorings or bi products in it.

Read me

I added a new element here to the right. It's an option to subscribe so you can get noticed when I've updated the blog, whenever I write something new. You can choose to follow publicly or anonymously. You can choose to follow this blog if you know me and want to know what I'm thinking about or if you just want to read what a random person in NYC have to say or if you always disagree with what I'm saying so as soon as I write something you can comment and let me know what you're thinking! You're all welcome =)

new month

I've been dancing, I've been dancing. Moving again. I haven't been away for that long but it's still too long! Just a few weeks. But so great to be back. Had that feeling of "yes, I'm at "home", where I'm supposed to be, where I love to be!! Such a good feeling that reminded me why I'm doing this. Sacrifizing everything else. Sacrificing any other education. My home country. And money.
When it comes to money I have a theory. Well I have two. (well actually I'm full of them LOL)
If I earned money, and lots of it, I would use it to become happy. How would I become happy? By just dance and work with dance all day. Sometimes it feels so unfair, and other times it feels so worth it anyways.

The reason it's so little money in dance, and so little attention compared to other artforms, I think must be because that's mostly woman practice it. This I base on how in every other area in society where there's mostly woman it works the same way.
In every other artform there's a chance, if ever so slight, to hit it big. There's of course music superstars. There's also paintings that sell for fortunes. There's worldfamous actors that earn millions. In dance...there's nothing like that. Not even that slight chance of "making it".

Good morning

It's 5 in the morning and I'm already awake. I had a flue (or many?) throughout almost entire December and then I took this passed weekend off to just rest up.
To be sick does wonders to your sleeping hours. Not. It's an awful bad spiral that starts off by being sick and needing to rest throughout the night and day but then the night comes when you cant sleep and you sleep all day instead. Because you're still tired and drained from the flu. And maybe you have energy to be awake for a few hours and do something small but try being a dancer and go take a very physical class in that state.
Well when I try I get so drained I get sick again.

I wish I was perfect and never sick. Or at least normal and it didn't last so long.
Or does it happen to normal people too, just that they don't talk about it?

Anyways, new year, new hope! After resting up this weekend I feel better and I'm so excited about dancing! =D

Stay away from all those colds and flues out there, I wish us all a healthy new year!

Birthday

I was writing on a post here at the blog. I took a pause and checked out the calender on my iPhone. I sometimes have trouble fitting my thoughts into square formats so I usually use a paper calender where I can write by hand. But I wanted to give it a try and was going to enter in my birthday:

Event:
Title: My birthday!!
Location: The world (I guess... I was born into this world)
Starts / End: All-day
Repeat: Every year
End repeat: When I came to this option I stopped to think for a moment...do I actually get to choose for how long I'll be alive to celebrate my birthday? I started to scroll through the years doing simple math for how long I'd like to live....Then the calender application just closed down on me! It quit out and shut down! ...I guess some things are just not meant.

And on this little note on birthdays and years passing I would like to take the opportunity to wish you all a really good 2009!
I'm hopeful and excited about this year. I believe it's likely that things will start to change for the better. Both on a personal level and for this country.
Happy New Year!
